Bluster /  Democracy / Coolest

Bluster: ‘to speak in a loud, aggressive or threatening way with little real effect or substance, or to describe a strong and violent blowing wind’. I could take that definition either way… the midterm elections are here. I feel sorry for the mail people and I’m over all the political TV ads! I digress, I’m here to talk about blustery winds. The new weather norm is here to stay it appears. That’s massive, stationary high pressure systems. Opposite of low pressure systems (tropical storms and hurricanes), the wind blows clockwise around the center of the high. The current high is sitting over the northeast DSA, oops I’ll cling on to USA. That places us in a very fresh and gusty northeast flow. It’s been that way for over a week and the forecast has it the same for at least the next week. The bottom line is; it prevents boats from getting more than a few miles offshore before people start regurgitating their breakfast. The good news, the wind is blowing offshore so visibility isn’t getting trashed and should actually be improving. My hope is that clean water moves within a few miles of the shoreline so we can set up a guinea pig trip. That’s what I call a trip that we run when we are uncertain of visibility.

Elections are falling on my birthday for the first time in six years. That means that everybody I vote for will win so there’s really no need for any of you to vote! Just the opposite, our struggling democracy needs all of us to vote. You can only cast one vote and at times it feels like that single vote doesn’t matter.  However, the sum of all those single votes ‘can’ and this go round, it feels like ‘will’ determine the future of our country. It seems like it’s Republicans vs Democrats with the future of humanity on the line. Maybe we’re not far from that? Regardless… Keep in mind that everyone voting is an American citizen and we are all human beings living on planet Earth!

Two of the coolest people I know that have transformed their older Deltona home into one of the coolest houses on Marco Island, will be hosting the Dive Club gathering this Friday. Ralf(ee) and Nancy Unruh have been Scuba Marco VIPs since the get go. I can’t even begin to describe how awesome their pad is. That’s why I took a bunch of pictures when they had Jessi and I over yesterday. You need to experience the sweet ambience and chill vibe they created at 1212 Martinique Court in person! Ralfee can throw down on the grill too. The brats and burgers he cooked for us were phenomenal. They are likely to be on the menu this Friday also. It is a BYOB situation… The B stands for buns. They are on the keto diet. As far as beer, they have a kegerator, so there will be two kinds of drafts flowing!

If you are in Southwest Florida, I strongly encourage you to make this a priority. If you’re not currently in the 239, I would suggest purchasing a plane ticket!

I really, really hope to see you this Friday.
Until then; Live Love Dive  —Jeff
