Advanced Open Water Diver

The next stride beyond the Open Water Certification.  The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver program is 5 Adventure dives, which can be completed in just 2 days of diving.  We start in Tarpon Bay to allow you to practice important dive skills like dive planning, navigation/compass work, and buoyancy control.  Our instructors will help you to fine tune your neutral buoyancy skills; while also helping increase your ability to Navigate underwater.  Using the PADI eLearning program allows for minimal classroom time… the focus is on diving and applying new skills and concepts underwater! Flexibility is key and Scuba Marco will cater our programs to meet your needs and time constraints!  Remember, each Adventure Dive qualifies as the first dive of each PADI Specialty. (Specialty certifications go more in depth on each area and generally require 2 to 4 dives per specialty.)

The Advanced course helps you build confidence in navigation, fine-tune buoyancy skills and introduces you to different diving activities such as wreck diving, night diving or underwater imaging. After completing your eLearning, you will make five Adventure Dives: a deep dive (beyond 18m/60F), a navigation dive, and three additional Adventure Dives of your choice to earn your certification. The Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive refines your compass navigation skills and helps you better navigate using kick-cycles, visual landmarks, and time. During the Deep Adventure Dive, you learn how to plan dives to deal with the physiological effects and challenges of deeper scuba diving. Dives and Instruction are done over two days.

*PLEASE NOTE: We normally spend one day diving in Tarpon Bay where we do Navigation, Peak Performance and usually Search & Recovery. Completing the required Deep Adventure dive poses a challenge here locally. Due to the gradual slope of the bottom on the gulf-coast of Florida, doing the Deep dive here requires a 20 mile boat ride out, or a drive & dive to Ft. Lauderdale to get to 60 feet depth. We usually don’t run out that far into the gulf but do have monthly scheduled trips to Ft. Lauderdale. If you’re not available to join us on a scheduled trip to Ft. Lauderdale we may be able to arrange a trip around your availability to complete the Advanced certification. Another option would be to do 3 Adventure dives in Tarpon Bay in a day. That would leave 2 more Adventure dives which can be completed without time constraints at most any PADI Dive Center or Resort.

We currently have scheduled Ft. Lauderdale trips on:
