My head is in a funky place right now just thinking about all of the negative environmental news feeds (not that other aspects of the news are any more positive). I can’t allow my brain to delve too deep into it, it becomes depressing! So once again I’ve defaulted into aquatic ostrich mode...
So, you finished your Open Water Course, Congratulations! Now What? Go dive!! Practice your new skills, work on your buoyancy, have some fun. The common question for a large percentage of new divers, especially for single divers, is “How do I go diving?”
Unfortunately the song remains the same; there is not much to chronicle under southwest Florida’s water so far this year. The bulk of our diving has been search and recovery... we had a wallet, glasses, and even a drone!
I’m not a huge holiday person but Thanksgiving has always been my favorite. Families gather (not that every relationship in a family is peachy) but many of us manage to put disputes and differences aside, if only for a day. We gorge on deliciousness to the point we have trouble moving, so we wobble to the couch and take a nap. How perfectly sensible is that?
An interesting observation I frequently make is how few divers utilize redundant air supply systems. The redundant system I am referring to is a separate cylinder, regulator, and submersible pressure gauge (mini button type is fine.)
I'm fairly certain we will reach that number, which should happen August 23rd of 2018. The question is: will it take place in the original and only dive shop where we've had the previous 19 anniversary celebrations?
